Does BioTrace Sync With Oura, Whoop, or a CGM?

Short answer: Apple Watch works fully. A continuous glucose monitor (Dexcom, Freestyle Libre, Levels, Stelo) works fully. Oura works partially. Whoop works partially, and not for the metrics that make Whoop distinctive. Here's exactly what that means for each one.

Apple Watch / Apple Health

Fully supported. BioTrace reads sleep, workouts, resting heart rate, HRV, and steps directly from Apple Health, with a toggle for each signal in Settings so you control exactly what syncs.

Continuous glucose monitors (CGM)

Fully supported. Dexcom, Freestyle Libre, Levels, and Stelo all write blood glucose readings into Apple Health once you enable that sync inside their own app — BioTrace reads the same standard Apple Health data type, so there's no separate CGM account to connect. Once glucose data is flowing, BioTrace surfaces your daily average and correlates stability against your labs for anyone with an insulin-sensitivity focused goal — the weekly guidance reflects real glucose variability, not just logged behavior.

Oura

Partially supported, indirectly. Oura writes sleep, heart rate, HRV, and resting heart rate into Apple Health when you enable Oura's own Apple Health sync setting. Since BioTrace already reads those same Apple Health types, Oura data flows into BioTrace automatically for anyone who has that setting on — no dedicated Oura integration required on our end.

Whoop

Partially supported, and it's worth being precise about which part. Whoop writes sleep and resting heart rate to Apple Health, and BioTrace picks those up the same way it does for Oura.

What Whoop does not write to Apple Health — by Whoop's own design, not a limitation on our end — is HRV, Recovery score, or Strain score. Whoop calculates HRV using a different method (RMSSD) than Apple Health's standard (SDNN), which is the reason Whoop gives for not exporting it. Recovery and Strain are Whoop's own proprietary scores with no equivalent Apple Health data type to receive them at all.

A direct Whoop integration (via Whoop's developer API) is scoped and technically ready to build, but we've deliberately held off — Whoop's developer platform ties API access to an individual's own consumer membership, which is a real business-continuity question worth resolving properly before shipping. If that changes, this section will be updated.

The honest summary

If your priority is CGM-to-labs correlation, Apple Watch, or Oura's core recovery signals — BioTrace covers you fully or near-fully today. If your priority is Whoop's Recovery score or true HRV specifically, that data currently stays inside the Whoop app; BioTrace only sees what Whoop chooses to pass through Apple Health.
